Schalke 04’s Holland International Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been the subject to speculation in the recent weeks with rumors linking the player with English side Arsenal and Liverpool. With the player refusing to extend his contract the rumors have been on and off with statements from various club authorities.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to strengthen his attacking options despite having spent £24million on Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud in the summer. And with the bumper shirt sponsorship of 150 million, Wenger has a hand full to spend. The 29-year-old former Ajax, Real Madrid, and AC Milan striker has scored in both Schalke’s Champions League ties against the Gunners this season and has lured the interest from the Gunners boss.
In a new turn around, former Dutch International striker Erik Meijer, a TV pundit whose agent Arnold Oosterveer now represents Huntelaar, believes his fellow Dutchman is bound for the Emirates in January.
“According to the information I have, Huntelaar will be gone in the winter. Arsenal are the favorites to land him,”
And with the Gunners looking to offload their out form striker Marouane Chamakh, Huntelaar’s move could become a reality.
