How Thomas Christiansen Could Lineup His New Leeds United Team For Game Against Borussia Monchengladbach

How Leeds United Might Line Up Against Borussia Monchengladbach In The Pre-Season Friendly

Leeds United have both lost and gained crucial players, as well as managers, over the last couple of months and it’s intriguing to see how their pre-season prep goes.

The game against Ingolstadt was called off due to security concerns and the upcoming friendly against German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach will be a good enough test of their character and ability before what is a massive Championship season for Thomas Christiansen’s men.

The new boss is very ambitious and despite the continued problems the club have, he reckons they can get promotion back to where they belong this term and may play with a 4-4-2 line-up like this.

GK – Felix Wiedwald

Rob Green’s place always did look in danger for the upcoming season and now the club have signed the Germany ‘keeper as their new no.1.

RB – Luke Ayling

The 25-year-old full-back is steadily improving and may one day be a Premier League player with or without Leeds United.

CB – Pontus Jansson

The man mountain of a defender is a top level player for my money and so Leeds are lucky to have him.

CB – Liam Cooper

Finished the previous season in disappointing fashion with a long ban, allowing Kyle Bartley to continue in this position. But he looks the part and is getting better all the time.

LB – Gaetano Berardi

The right-footed Swiss can deputise here, as he has done before, while the club seek out a proper replacement for the departed Charlie Taylor.

RW – Hadi Sacko

Now at the club on a permanent basis, he feels he has found a proper home and in this formation could provide some great supply for the front two.

Vurnon Anita

CM – Vurnon Anita

This now looks a really solid central midfield, with Anita’s vast experience complementing the precocious talent of Vieira.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira

Unbelievably, still just 18, Vieira is a real talent and will be in the Premier League before long. Anita is a wise acquisition, not just because of his own ability in this division but because of what he can teach this young man.

LW – Kemar Roofe

As is the modern way, it’ll be good to see this improving young player given a chance on the left-hand side, enabling him to cut in on to his right foot and occasionally make up a direct front three for opposition defences to cope with.

Samu Saiz

SS – Samu Saiz

The jury is out on the ability of Leeds’ new Spanish signing, but he deserves a chance now that he’s here and would be comfortable playing just behind the no.9.

ST – Chris Wood

No more important than Jansson or Vieira for my money, but a crucial player nonetheless and his goals will be vital if Leeds are to get into the top two this term.
