How This Newcastle United Star Has Out Performed Manchester United’s £100million Target In The EUROS

France are set to play Portugal in the final of Euro 2016 and all eyes have been on some of the stars in the French team. While Antoine Griezmann has scored six goals in the tournament and Dimitri Payet has been incredible for the team, there has been another player who has been in the limelight and it would not be a surprise to many that Paul Pogba has been linked with a big money move away from Juventus to Manchester United.

The Premier League club have labelled a bid of close to £100 million for the 23-year-old Serie A star but before going ahead and spending that amount of money, the club should also note that another star midfielder for France has been doing well and he recently got relegated with Newcastle.

Moussa Sissoko going to the European Championship was always going to be a big question mark for Didier Deschamps as he decided to leave out Hatem Ben Arfa but one thing is a given, Sissoko has proved most of the doubters wrong and even starred for France in their win over World Champions Germany.

That was not a one-off show from the 26-year-old, and even though most pundits have been racing about Paul Pogba, the Newcastle man as shown that he too can do a great job and has even performed better than the highly touted Juventus star.

Sissoko does have a greater passing percentage than Pogba with a pass completion rate of 88.7% according to whoscored.com while Pogba only comes in with 86.7%. The surprising thing is that even though Pogba has played in more games in the tournament or at least started in more games than the Newcastle man, they still are tied when it comes to dribbles per game with 2.2.

His running game in the match against Germany was also incredibly important for France as they looked to keep the World Champions at bay. In fact, Sissoko did his bit on the defensive end as well, he came in with 3 tackles in the game and he was tied with Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante with the highest number of tackles in the game.

Sissoko also did incredibly well the other night in keeping tabs on Julian Draxler and Jonas Hector, thus it wasn’t just his offensive style of play but also his tacking back which actually has helped the French team do so well.

The Newcastle man might not have been the biggest name on the France team but he has shown that he too can play with the best and his performances in the last game and overall in the tournament certainly shows that he too is ready for the big game and he certainly seems to be having a decent item of it in the Euros, certainly a tad better than Pogba, simply because he wasn’t expected to be in the team, let alone doing so well.
