How Manchester United Would Line Up With Gareth Bale In The Team

Manchester United were given a huge boost after it was revealed that Welsh winger Gareth Bale is open for a move this summer. The 27-year old is easily one of the best players in his position in Europe at the moment but under Zinedine Zidane, he has not been able to cement a place in the first team regularly at the Bernabeu.

According to English news outfit Independent, Real Madrid are happy to open negotiations for the £86m winger. They also report that the former Tottenham Hotspur man is open to a switch to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho helped Manchester United to the Champions League by winning the Europa League. However, they are now set to miss out on Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann. They need a world class player with European pedigree to take them forward and Bale could be the perfect man for the club.

He has already played under Mourinho during their time at the Spanish capital and the manager will have no problem building his team around the 27-year old. So how will Manchester United line up with Gareth Bale in their squad?

Mourinho is expected to stick to a 4-3-3 system to try and get the best out of Paul Pogba, the world record signing. This will mean that Bale is an automatic starter on the right wing.

Mourinho has used Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard in that role and Bale will be a massive upgrade on the three of them. Lingard may find first team chances hard to come by next season while Mata may not be at the club come September.

As for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, he has been brilliant when used in a number 10 role but he might have to drop onto the bench or play in the playmaker role when Mourinho shifts to a 4-2-3-1. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been superb in patches and Mourinho will hope that they can find some consistency next season. They will take their turns playing on the left wing, also helping out as a striker when needed.

Mourinho is not going to end his business even if he gets his hands on Gareth Bale. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic not expected to extend his contract, United need a proper number 9 who can take the Swede’s role from the current campaign and the Portuguese boss already has some names that he wants the club to target.

Bale on the right wing, Martial or Rashford on the left and a superstar striker will make Manchester United one of the strongest attacks in Europe. However, they will have to spend some big bucks to get the right players to the club this summer.

This is how they could line up:
