Dream Liverpool Lineup For 2017/18 Season Featuring Naby Keita And Andrew Robertson

Liverpool’s pursuit of Naby Keita and Virgil Van Dijk, their prime transfer targets for summer 2017, hit a major stumbling block due to the rigidity and unwillingness of their current employers ( RB Leipzig and Southampton respectively) to sell their top assets.

Van Dijk saga took an ugly turn as the Saints complained of a ‘tapping  up’ and Liverpool apologised publicly as well as ended their interest to avoid further consequences. But the Reds have been desperate to acquire Keita from the Bundesliga runners up and willing to spend as much as £70million for the decorated midfielder to test RB Leipzig’s resolve even if they are adamant not to sell.

Keita, the 22-year old Guinean international, made a switch to the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit last year from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg after winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles with them. He soon earned a first team status and key midfield role for Leipzig, appearing 31 times in the league scoring 8 and assisting 8 times. He was included in Bundesliga Team of the Year and impressed the Reds boss Klopp with his box-to-box display in the middle of the park.

He has high work ethics too and impressed in a deeper midfield role with strong intercepting and tackling traits along with ability to screen his back-line efficiently under pressure.

Keita’s inclusion will strengthen the Reds midfield with multiple options behind ‘front three’ as they already have the likes of skipper Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Emre Can who flourished under the German gaffer during 2016-17 Premier League competition.

Inclusion of Mohamed Salah will add flair in Reds’ attacking third alongside Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi, and Daniel Sturridge. The midfield will look settled with Keita’s arrival if Liverpool manage to strike a deal with Leipzig.

However, a centre back as well as a left back are still major concerns for Jurgen Klopp and the club will readily pay any fee if the manager asks for someone whom he absolutely needs in his squad. Although James Milner deputised effectively in a make-shift left back role due to Alberto Moreno’s defensive vulnerability, Klopp is believed to bring a specialist in that position with Andrew Robertson from the relegated Hull City being targeted to compete with the veteran Englishman.

The Reds will have enough squad depth if their key players can avoid an injury-plagued campaign and the club manage to strike deals for the likes of Keita, Van Dijk and Robertson. With Salah’s transfer from AS Roma having already been announced, Liverpool’s starting lineup will be even more exciting to watch with Naby Keita in the team.

Also, the likes of Loris Karius, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Trent Alexander-arnold will keep knocking the door of Liverpool’s first team.

It finally looks like Liverpool’s team is complete.
