Predicted Cardiff City Line-up To Face Bristol City In The EFL Championship
Since losing top spot to Wolves, Cardiff, for me, haven’t really looked like getting it back despite continuing their impressive season. Winning the title looks off to be honest, but a 3-1 win in midweek means they remain in good form and look set for a play-off position.
A typically lively early encounter at Bristol City is expected and if Cardiff can win it then it would be a massive result, though to be fair I’m not sure I’ll be first in the queue of the bookies! Hopefully another good showing from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is in the offing as he looks like a potential star.
Neil Warnock will most likely employ this XI in a 4-1-4-1 formation:
Formation: 4-1-4-1
Manager: Neil Warnock
GK – Neil Etheridge
The Bluebirds’ regular stopper will most likely line up between the sticks once more. As is the case with a lot of ‘keepers, Etheridge is probably one of the more underrated members of this particular squad.
RB – Callum Paterson
Widely anticipated to have signed for Rangers in pre-season but has ended up here instead. A solid full-back and deserves a lofty position in the league.
CB – Sean Morrison
Going strong and is guaranteed of a slot in this XI. As long as cool heads are kept on Saturday, as long as a result could be had, Morrison will be a key influence in that.
CB – Bruno Ecuele Manga
Manga, Morrison and Bamba are a formidable defensive force but Bristol City will test them to the max at the weekend.
LB – Lee Peltier
More comfortable on the other side – how much would Cardiff wish they had Declan John just now?
DM – Sol Bamba
Getting rave reviews for his performances in this position this season, should get to start here again.
RW – Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
This moves quick in English football these days, so I reckon this lad will be a Premier League player this time next season, one way or the other.
CM – Loic Damour
The midfield may well be freshened up with Damour coming in for Tomlin.
CM – Joe Ralls
Will relish this contest and a solid and effective display is very much expected from him here.
LW – Junior Hoilett
Showing some of his early form when bursting on to the Premier League scene some time ago and is proving to be a very, very effective winger in this division.
ST – Omar Bogle
May still keep Ward out of the side although both of them managed to score in midweek. Bogle may be given at least 60 minutes to prove his effectiveness in the side.
