Highlights From La Liga’s Top Two Matches

A cracker between Barcelona and Deportiva saw 9 goals been scored in space of 90 minutes. Barcelona traveled to Deportiva with the hope of continuing their unbeaten run in the league. The visitors took two points but only after a scare from the home side as Deportivo kept scoring back for all the goals they let in. Barca opened the game brilliantly scoring three goals in the space of 18 minutes thanks to Jordi Alba, Cristian Tello and Messi.

However, Depor replied with a Luis Pizzi penalty and an Alex Bergantinos goal before Messi struck again to put Barca back in the driving seat. Messi completed yet another hattrick for the Catalans and the match ended up as 4-5.

Champions Real Madrid have started to settle down from the initial struggles early in the season. The International break did not have much effect to the fatigue of  the players and managed a comfortable 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo. The injury problems at the back were handled spectacularly by Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach started Essien, Ramos, Varane and Pepe at the back and his defenders did not let him down and managed a clean sheet at the Bernabeu.

Higuain put the home side ahead when he sprang forward down the left wing in the 11th minute to slot in a excellent chip over the head of stranded Celta goalkeeper Sergio. The match was all but over at the 65th minute as Ronaldo scored from a spot kick to make it 2-0. The result maintained the champions’ strong home form in La Liga. Madrid are now 16-games unbeaten at the Bernabeu, having won 13 and drawn three of their last 16 home matches
