Hernandez And Vieira To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Leeds Line-up To Face Leicester In Carabao Cup

Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Leicester City In the Carabao Cup

Leeds United will travel to the King Power Stadium this Tuesday night, as they gear up to take on Premier League side Leicester City in the Round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.

The Whites progressed to this stage of the competition, after having defeated another top division side, Burnley, on penalties, in the previous round and manager Thomas Christiansen will be hoping to achieve a similar result against the Foxes. Leeds come into the game high on confidence, after beating Bristol City 3-0 in the Championship this past weekend.

Team News

Defender Gaetano Berardi will be unavailable for selection as he picked up a straight red card in the weekend’s clash against Bristol City. The Swiss international will also be ruled out of the fixtures against Sheffield United and Derby later this month. There are no other major injury worries for the Whites, with striker Caleb Ekuban still ruled out. Winger Stuart Dallas will continue to be absent due to a family bereavement.

Here’s how the Yorkshire based outfit could take the field against Leicester:

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Felix Wiedwald (GK)

The German has been dropped from the side after a series of unconvincing displays. But, he could get a game against the Foxes in place of Andy Lonergan.

Luke Ayling

Luke Ayling (RB)

The 26-year old Englishman is a constant fixture in the Whites’ line-up week in week out. Expect that to remain the same on Tuesday.

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The giant Swede was left out of the playing XI for the weekend game, but could find a place in the line-up at the King Power.

Conor Shaughnessy (CB)

The youngster has shown good signs in the limited opportunities he has been provided by Christiansen. He might be handed another start in place of Liam Cooper.

Vurnon Anita (LB)

With Gaetano Berardi suspended and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson somewhat frozen out, former Newcastle United man Vurnon Anita should get the nod at left-back.

Ronaldo Vieira

Mateusz Klich (CM)

The Polish midfielder has started all the three of Leeds’ cup ties so far this season and should make his fourth appearance in the competition, against Leicester.

Ronaldo Vieira (CM)

The teenager impressed heavily, starting against City this past weekend. Should retain his place in the starting line-up.

Hadi Sacko (RW)

The 23-year old was Leeds’ hero against Burnley in the previous round, making a big impact coming off the bench. Could be in line for his second start of the season.

Pablo Hernandez (LW)

The Spaniard has hit a bit of a lean patch of late, but will have fond memories of firing Leeds to a win against Burnley in the previous round. Should get a look-in.

Samu Saiz (CAM)

Samu Saiz has been absolutely top notch for Leeds this term and should start in his usual attacking midfield role against Leicester.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga (ST)

The German scored over the weekend and is likely to keep his place at the top of the attack, ahead of Jay-Ray Grot, against a physically robust Leicester defence.
