Here’s the PL Team of the Decade including Chelsea and Man City stars

Ever since its inception, the Premier League has been graced by some of the best footballing talents on the planet and things have hardly been any different in the 2010s decade.

The fans have been lucky enough to witness the prime of several world-class players who have left their legacy behind at their respective clubs, and as the New Year promises the dawn of another jam-packed decade of Premier League action, let us take a look at the elite XI from the 2010s.

Here is the English Premier League Team of the Decade assembled in a 4-2-3-1 formation:

Joe Hart (GK)

The 32-year-old seems to be well past his prime now and is quietly playing out the remainder of his playing days at Burnley. However, Hart will always be remembered for his heroics at Manchester City, where he clocked up 348 appearances and spent eight full seasons as the club’s undisputed No.1 between the sticks.

A 4-time Golden Glove winner in the Premier League, the 75-cap England international helped Man City to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup crown and two League Cup triumphs over the course of his illustrious spell at the Etihad.

Leaving out David de Gea might be a harsh call but Hart certainly deserves the nod ahead of the Spaniard in terms of records and silverware in the Premier League.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

Pablo Zabaleta is the Chelsea man’s nearest competitor but when it comes to a complete decade of dominance in that role, it’s hard to leave Azpilicueta out of the elite XI.

A veteran of 253 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, Azpilicueta is still going strong at age of 30 and continues to put in consistent performances, week in week out for the Blues.

The Spaniard has already won two Premier League and two Europa League titles during his stint at Stamford Bridge so far and the fans would certainly want to see him add to that tally in the next decade.

Vincent Kompany (CB)

The Belgian proclaimed his worth not only by the virtue of his obvious brilliance as a central defender but his charismatic leadership, both on and off the pitch, was also instrumental in Man City’s decade of dominance in the Premier League.

A 4-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, Kompany surely cemented his place amongst the legends in the blue half of Manchester before departing for Anderlecht in his homeland this past summer.

Gary Cahill (CB)

The former England international’s name has rarely been discussed by the fans when it comes to some of the top centre-backs in the Premier League in the 2010s decade but as underrated as he has always been, Cahill has done enough to warrant his place in the elite XI.

One of the best bargain signings of the decade, as well as one of the best January recruits ever in the history of the Premier League, Cahill only came through the door at Stamford Bridge from Bolton in 2012 with the hope of playing a bit-part role.

However, he went on to register almost 300 appearances for the Blues in all competitions and guided them to a host of trophies, including a Champions League crown, 2 Premier League and 2 Europa League titles over the course of his illustrious stint in West London.

Cahill is now at the twilight of his career at 34 but he will surely go down as a legendary figure at Chelsea for his telling contribution in one of the club’s most successful decades.

Leighton Baines (LB)

Baines might be a seldom-seen figure at Everton these days but he was one of the most devastating left-backs in the Premier League during the early years of the decade.

Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson is widely regarded as the best left-back in the Premier League right now but he would have to do a lot more to match the exploits of the former England international, who boasts of over 400 league appearances under his belt.

Yaya Toure (CM)

The Ivorian international, who joined Man City from Barcelona in 2010, was quite sensational for the Cityzens and was instrumental in the club’s three Premier League triumphs over the course of his eight-year stay at the Etihad.

Toure certainly outshone the likes of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the past decade as one of the Premier League’s most feared goalscoring central midfielders and that should be enough to warrant a place in the best eleven.

N’Golo Kante (CDM)

The Frenchman was a little-known entity in the footballing world before he joined Leicester City in the summer of 2015 but he has probably done better than several of his contemporaries in a relatively short period of time to make it to the decade’s elite XI.

One of the architects of Leicester’s fairytale Premier League triumph, Kante replicated the same feat with Chelsea in his debut season at Stamford Bridge and subsequently guided the Blues to the Europa League title last season.

Eden Hazard (LW)

Has the Premier League witnessed a better wide player than Eden Hazard in the entire decade? Well, the answer to that would be a straight no.

The Belgian carved out a massive reputation for himself as a nemesis for some of the most rigid defences in the English top-flight and his eye-watering record of 110 goals and 92 assists in 352 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions speaks for itself.

A former two-time Premier League and Europa League winner with the Blues, as well as a four-time recipient of the club’s Player of the Year award, Hazard will be remembered as a legend at Stamford Bridge for generations to come.

David Silva (CAM)

Currently in his tenth season at Man City and probably his last in English football, the diminutive Spanish playmaker’s inclusion in the decade’s elite XI comes as a complete no-brainer.

A bonafide witness and a key driving force behind Man City’s rampaging success in the decade, Silva has accumulated 4 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cup medals and 4 League Cup crowns in his cabinet during his outstanding spell at the Etihad.

David Silva is an undoubted inclusion in this elite XI

Talking about his brilliance, it’s enough to point to his incredible tally of 74 goals and 136 assists in 415 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions.

Unparalleled, Isn’t it?

Raheem Sterling (RW)

Well, he has been around the scene for such a long time that it’s hard to believe he is still only 25.

Sterling was a raw dazzling young talent back in his days at Liverpool but Pep Guardiola has really transformed him into a world-class winger capable of tormenting the best of defences.

The Englishman hit double figures, both in terms of goals and assists, to play a key role in Man City’s back-to-back Premier League triumphs and he has already plundered 11 league goals for the Citizens so far this term.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

Jamie Vardy, Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Diego Costa, Luis Suarez, Harry Kane – we aren’t really short of realistic contenders for the No.9 role in this Team of the Decade.

However, none has been as consistent and devastating as Man City’s battering ram, Sergio Aguero, who has continued to terrorize defences for almost ten years in the Premier League and is still going strong at the age of 31.

A 4-time Premier League winner and the recipient of the Golden Boot in the 2014-15 campaign, Aguero’s tally of 174 goals and 52 assists in 254 Premier League appearances makes him one of the best ever strikers to have graced the English top-flight.
