Here’s the Championship team of gameweek 5 – featuring Leeds and Sheffield United stars

Championship team of the week – Gameweek 5

It was another exciting week in the Championship with a number of upsets and surprise wins in stock. Leeds United continued their march to the top with a fine display against Norwich City. Middlesbrough are right on their tail after holding their nerve against West Bromwich Albion.

Queens Park Rangers picked up their first win with a thrilling game that ended just 1-0. Surely, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United and Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough are the early contenders for the title but things can always change.

Here we take a look at the Championship team of the week.

Championship Team of the Week

J. Lumley (Queens Park Rangers) (GK)

Lumley played a crucial role in QPR picking up their first win. The goalkeeper kept clean sheet and made a number of match-winning saves.

Barry Douglas (Leeds United) (LB)

It was a typical Barry Douglas performance from the full-back. He was constantly surging up and down the field. The former Wolves man also provided the assist for Ezgjan Alioski.

Chris Basham (Sheffield United) (CB)

Basham was the man of the match on the night and scored a brilliant goal for Sheffield United. He was excellent defensively as well.

Sean Raggett (Rotherham United) (CB)

The centre-back commanded his area and scored the winning goal for Rotherham United.

Luke Ayling (Leeds United) (RB)

Ayling’s marauding runs once again created all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders. He created a number of opportunities as well.

Pablo Hernandez (Leeds United) (LM)

It was a very lively performance from the Leeds United midfielder. He scored a neat goal and created a bunch of chances going forward.

John Fleck (Sheffield United) (CM)

Fleck scored a superb goal for Sheffield United. The midfielder was dominant both on and off the ball.

Mark Duffy (Sheffield United) (CM)

Duffy marked his return from injury with a well taken goal. In terms of box-to-box midfield play, Duffy was flawless.

Lucas Joao (Sheffield Wednesday) (RM)

The winger scored a brace to ensure Wednesday wrapped up all three points against Ipswich Town.

Andreas Weimann (Bristol City) (ST)

Weimann had a close to perfect game against Swansea City. He scored a goal and came close on many other occasions.

Lukas Jutkiewicz (Brimingham City) (ST)

The 29-year-old capped off a massive performance with the first goal of the season. Jutkiewicz was a constant menace in the box against Nottingham Forest.
