Here Are 2 Ideal Destinations For Out Of Favour Huddersfield Winger Including Reading

Two Possible Destinations For Huddersfield’s Sean Scannell

Huddersfield’s ascension to the Premier League was massive for the town and every single player celebrated their Wembley win as though they were lifting the World Cup.

Quite rightly too, but for some of the squad, promotion inevitably means an exit for them as David Wagner looks to move on from those who are seen as not good enough, in favour of players with proven top level quality. One such player is winger Sean Scannell and here we look at two possible clubs he could turn up at before August.

Reading

The Berkshire club were denied by the slimmest of margins last season by Huddersfield themselves and are set fair for another promotion push under Jaap Stam this year.

Scannell was born in Croydon and spent five years on the books of Crystal Palace. So he may welcome a move south to carry on with his career. He is only 26 years old and has plenty more to give. So he would still fit into Reading manager Jaap Stam’s ethos.

Reading may be as good as it gets for Scannell to be honest. If we take his profile at face value, then those going for promotion may feel there is little value in bringing in a player who was considered not good enough at a similar club last season.

However, he can end up at somewhere like Millwall, a newly-promoted club but one with ambitions at this level.  Assuming that they can afford him and that he would be available, you would feel that Scannell would be regarded as quite a big signing and certainly as the one which would make a statement.

As mentioned earlier, you can’t help thinking that Scannell may look for a move south, now that his time at Huddersfield appears to be over. If that is correct, his options in the Championship are limited. Fulham do not need him, Brentford may feel similarly so and it remains to be seen whether he would fancy a move to QPR given that the West Londoners were well under par in the second half of last season.

It’s unclear as to what sort of wages the Lions can cough up for their new talent this summer, although their limited budget will have increased since their promotion from League One. The third tier of English football looked a strong one last season and so they, Sheffield United and Bolton can all compete next season in what is now a wide-open Championship. Players of Scannell’s ability could certainly be drawn in by any club in the division right now.
