Halliday And Wilson Come In: Predicted Rangers Playing XI Against Celtic

Rangers FCRangers will go head-to-head against fierce rivals Celtic on Sunday for the third time in the Scottish Premiership this season, at the Celtic Park.

The Gers, who are without a manager, will be high on confidence after thrashing Hamilton Academical 6-1 last weekend in the Scottish Cup encounter. However, having lost all their previous clashes against the Bhoys this season and considering Celtic’s current winning streak, getting a positive result on Sunday seems like a far reach for Rangers.

The biggest news coming for Rangers right now will be the fact that Pedro Caixinha is all set to take over as the manager of the club after Al-Gharafa gave him the permission to move to the Ibrox. Regarding the on-field news, defender Rob Kiernan will be absent due to suspension, with his appeal to overturn the ban failing badly. Striker Joe Garner is unavailable due to suspension, while Nico Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter will also miss out due to injury issues.

Predicted Rangers Line-Up To Face Celtic

Formation: 4-3-3

Wes Foderingham (GK)

The 26-year old has been the undisputed choice in goal for Rangers. Expect it to stay the same on Sunday against Celtic.

James Tavernier (RB)

At right-back, it will be the 25-year old James Tavernier. The Englishman will have his hands full going up against the in-form Scott Sinclair.

Danny Wilson (CB)

With Robert Kiernan set to miss two games due to suspension, it will be former Liverpool man Danny Wilson who will slot in at the back for Rangers.

Clint Hill (CB)

Partnering Wilson will be veteran defender Clint Hill. The 38-year old former QPR man has featured 18 times for the Gers this season. Will have his task cut out against the explosive Moussa Dembele.

Lee Wallace (LB)

At left-back, it will be captain Lee Wallace for Rangers. The 29-year old will have a crucial role to play with the defensive solidity that he provides.

Andy Halliday (DM)

Midfielder Andy Halliday should be set for a return into the playing XI after missing out the cup tie against Hamilton. He could replace Jon Toral as the defensive enforcer for Rangers.

Jason Holt (CM)

Alongside Halliday, we expect the 24-year old Jason Holt to keep his place in the starting line-up ahead of Josh Windass.

Emerson Hyndman (CM)

Completing the three-man midfield will be the Bournemouth loanee, Emerson Hyndman. The 20-year old has scored thrice this season and assisted four. Could be a threat on Sunday.

Martyn Waghorn (RW)

On the right-flank, we expect the 27-year old Martyn Waghorn to keep his place. The Englishman is the club’s second highest scorer with five goals. He will look to add to his tally against Celtic.

Barrie McKay (LW)

On the opposite wing, it will be Barrie McKay. The 22-year old will be expected to provide the creativity and threat in the attacking third for Rangers.

Kenny Miller (ST)

And up front, it will be club’s leading goalscorer in the Premiership Kenny Miller. Joe Garner scored a hat-trick in his previous game for Rangers but will miss the game because of suspension, thus allowing Miller to hold on to his spot.
