“Had to give us heart attacks”, “Another title”: Some Man City fans react to Community Shield win vs Liverpool + Match Report

Liverpool v Manchester City Report: Manchester City Match Report

Manchester City have begun their new season with a trophy after beating rivals Liverpool on penalties to win the Community Shield.

After a fascinating game for 90 minutes, it was Claudio Bravo who saved Georginio Wijnaldum’s penalty in the shoot-out that turned out to be the difference between the two teams.

Coming back to the normal game, Raheem Sterling gave City an early lead in the 12th minute after a well-worked set-piece routine. David Silva cleverly flicked the ball at the near post to set up the goal.

After that, the Premier League champions dominated the game for the rest of the first half but they didn’t double the score-line.

Post half-time, Liverpool came back strongly and deserved to be level at the least. Then 13 minutes from time, they worked a set-piece routine well to find Virgil van Dijk at the back post.

The Dutchman then set up a dink assist for Joel Matip three yards away from the goal.

Before and after that goal, the Reds had enough chances to score but Bravo was superb to deny Mohamed Salah on several occasions. At the stroke of the full-time whistle, the Egyptian was denied on the goal line by Kyle Walker.

At the end of the day, Bravo saved the day for Manchester City during the normal time and also in the shoot-out. As a result, they have successfully begun their season with a trophy, which is becoming a habit of some sort.

Here’s how their fans reacted after the game:
