Gylfi Sigurdsson In Left Wing – Strongest Everton Line-Up To Face Manchester City

Predicted Everton Lineup To Face Manchester City In The Premier League

Everton will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Monday night to take on Manchester City in the second match-week of the Premier League.

The Toffees started off the new season with a 1-0 win over Stoke City at the Goodison Park last week, with Wayne Rooney scoring on his return to the club. And they come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Croatian club Hajduk Split in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoffs on Thursday night. But, the Citizens will represent a much sterner opposition for Ronald Koeman’s men.

Team News

Striker Sandro Ramirez is expected to be fit after sitting out of the Europa League win due to a heel injury. Midfielders Ross Barkley and James McCarthy are still some way away from making a return. Yannick Bolasie, Ramiro Funes Mori and Seamus Coleman are long-term absentees.

Manager: Ronald Koeman

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jordan Pickford (GK)

The summer signing has started off in a fine fashion with the Toffees, but will face a big test against Pep Guardiola’s City.

Cuco Martina (RB)

Koeman has relied on the former Southampton man to fill in at right-back, ahead of youngster Mason Holgate in Coleman’s absence. Likely to continue against the Citizens.

Michael Keane (CB)

The summer signing will be high on confidence, having scored his first goal for the club in the Europa League game. But a tough test awaits.

Michael Keane

Ashley Williams (CB)

The experienced defender will be tasked with keeping Sergio Aguero under the wraps, which is not going to be an easy task by any means.

Leighton Baines (LB)

Will be up against one of the best wing-backs in the league, in Kyle Walker, which could hamper his effect while going forward.

Morgan Schneiderlin (CM)

The Frenchman will occupy one of the pivots in the middle of the park for the Merseysiders. Will have to try and curtail the effects of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Idrissa Gueye (CM)

Schneiderlin is likely to be partnered by Idrissa Gueye in the centre of the park. The Senegalese scored against Hajduk Split and will look to provide the box-to-box presence for Koeman’s side.

Davy klaassen

Kevin Mirallas (RW)

The Belgian will once again start on Monday night, but could find himself moved to the right flank this time.

Davy Klaassen (CAM)

The new signing from Ajax has started off well for the Toffees and will want to continue doing so against the Citizens.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (LW)

Everton’s club-record signing, the Iceland international arrived earlier this week and could find himself thrust straight into action, on the left flank.

Wayne Rooney (ST)

Scored in the season opener against Stoke City and with Sandro Ramirez just recovering from a minor injury, expect England’s all-time leading goal-scorer to start against City.

Here’s how Everton could line up against Manchester City:
