Can Manchester City Win The Quadruple This Season?

Manchester City have been in blistering form this season so far and although their chances of going unbeaten in the Premier League are over, they still have a golden opportunity to win a quadruple this season. The Premier League trophy is as good as theirs already and they have an upcoming League Cup final with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the Champions League is set to restart as well while getting their hands on the FA Cup also seems like a fairly easy road. It is obviously a lot easier to just talk about this than actually go out and win all these trophies and although it might seem a bit unlikely, it is certainly not impossible for Pep Guardiola’s men.

With the likes of John Stones, Phil Foden and Leroy Sane returning to training, it might not be too long before Guardiola has a near full-strength squad to choose from. In the initial stages of the season, City looked lethal on all fronts and for them to even succumb to a defeat seemed a bit far-fetched. However, the mighty did fall but they are still adequately ahead of their competitors and continue to be the top favourites to win the coveted Premier League title.

Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne

Be that as it may, it remains to be seen if they are competitive enough to win the other trophies. Winning a quadruple is never easy but it seems to have gotten all the rarer now with intensity increasing across the league. Many teams have been unpredictable this season and if this is the case in the domestic league, one can imagine what the level of competition in other leagues would be like. Even the La Liga has become extremely cut-throat this season with even the reigning European champions Real Madrid finding it tough to play to their standards.

In such a situation, City have a massive advantage. They have an insanely strong team filled with good squad depth in most areas. Their attack has arguably been the best in the Premier League this season whereas their midfield has been quite magical as well. The likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho have weaved together a solid partnership to pull the strings for City. Their defence has been quite decent as well, with Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi being the standout performers.

Of course, one must bear in mind that challenges will only intensify for City from here on. They will have to face tougher teams in crunching schedules but given the kind of team they have at present, if anybody can get close to winning a quadruple, it has to be them.
