A repeat of the 2013 FA Cup final will take place when Manchester City battle it out with Wigan Athletic as they look to book a place in the quarter-final and close the FA Cup weekend with a bang.
The quadruple seeking side should avoid being the third PL team to get knocked out by the Latics. There will only be a few who would go against the away side after knowing that they are almost through to the UCL quarter-finals, are in the EFL Cup final and just six wins away from the Premier League title.
However, Manchester City will be very of the threat posed by Wigan as they have already beaten high-quality sides such as West Ham and Bournemouth. They have also won each of their last two against the Manchester club in this competition.
Gabriel Jesus is almost back to full fitness but this game comes too early for his liking and he won’t be making it into the starting XI.
David Silva and Leroy Sané completed their comebacks in the last game and are in line for a start, while Benjamin Mendy remains out with his long-term knee injury.
Pep will make some important changes in defence, keeping in mind the Arsenal game coming up next. Kevin De Bruyne is expected to receive some much-needed rest but this team is good enough to make it another canter and march on like they have done all season.
Like he has done in all cup competitions this season so far, Bravo will start in goal for the Cityzens. If he’s playing a sweeper keeper role, he has got to be more convincing with the passing and calmness.
The disciplined Danilo will play at right back. He gets the odd crosses into the box and is known for defending tidily, something that City should not have to do much in the game.
John Stones will play at centre-back, as he has grown steadily in this role under Guardiola.
Laporte will be alongside Stones and really seems to have fit into this shirt well. His passing and ability to pick diagonals is jaw-dropping.
Adds zip and pace going forward. Zinchenko has been doing well in the left-back spot and should continue the same.
The rock of City’s midfield is the player to watch out for. Apart from his robust defending and sharp man marking, Fernandinho makes the forward runs and often punishes sleepy defences.
Gundogan’s box to box abilities will be something to keep an eye out for in this game. The German is in great form and might end up getting a goal or two.
The magician will link the play together, gel with the forwards and create a bagful of chances. Silva will play in an advanced central midfield role but would be looking to float into the box as often as possible.
Bernardo stretches wing-backs and offers a counter-attacking threat. He is also a fine finisher. He will play at right-wing.
Sané’s pace and quality will be seen down the left flank. If he gets back to his best, it’s game over for the third tier side.
He has 16 goals in 17 appearances in the FA Cup and there is no need to describe the sharp shooter any further.
