Guardiola To Coach Manchester United

This is big , even bigger than any of the transfers that took place this summer!  United fans could be in for a treat even after Sir Alex Ferguson leaves!

Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary coach of Manchester United, was mysteriously nowhere to be found at the UEFA Elite Coaches Forum in Nyon this week. One person who missed him most was Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, who immediately phoned the United coach only to be told, “I’m in New York”. Mourinho has maintained a good relationship with Sir Alex despite the past battles they experienced in the Premiership while Jose was still with Chelsea.

The Madrid coach passed the news to some of his colleagues present at the Coaches forum who had been curious about the charismatic Scots absence. Immediately, the officials also noted the mysterious absence of Pep Guardiola at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, who despite not coaching any club this year, was invited as an exception, but apologized stating he was in New York, where his family has resided since last month, and could not attend the meeting this year.

According to Catalan sports daily El mundo deportivo, this gave basis to a rumor among the coaches in Nyon of Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex meeting in New York. Mainly because Ferguson wants to retire in July 2013 (if you believe MD), and is looking to leave the club (Man Utd) in the hands of Pep Guardiola, a coach he trusts to preserve and enhance his legacy. Guardiola had previously stated in the media that perfecting his English is one his major objectives during his sabattical year in the United States.

Man United is a club that fits Guardiola perfectly: serious in their structure, economically powerful, hungry for international titles and their attractive style of football means it is moldable to Pep’s philosophy.

The presence of Ferguson in NY was confirmed by his friends from Smithfield, with whom he had a beer on Tuesday. UEFA later announced that Ferguson and Guardiola’s absence among the 22 coaches, led to Feyenoord coach, former Barcelona and Dutch legend Ronald Koeman being invited to replace them in the Elite panel on Tuesday.
