Manchester United had a tough and unhappy season so far and as such nothing revived the club back into earlier position. Captain Wayne Rooney too didn’t help the situation and the news of him leaving the club was welcomed by fans in December.
However, according to the Mirror, Rooney refused a contract offer from the Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua in a £500,000 pounds a week in a 3-year deal. Shenhua earlier bought Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka from the premier league.
Albeit the injury, Rooney is currently in a good form and as such United may consider extending his contract. However, his refusal has disappointed the Chinese club who were looking to make the England international the face of their revamped Brand.
Rooney’s decision to reject a £27 million bid seems like he did lose big money, while his place in the Premier League is still in doubts.
