Gracia to make no changes – Strongest 3-4-2-1 Watford lineup to face Everton

Predicted Watford Lineup To Face Everton In The Premier League

Following a topsy-turvy start to life under new head coach Javi Gracia, Watford will be looking to make things right as they host Everton at the Vicarage Road this weekend.

The Hornets are coming on the back of a disappointing 2-0 loss to West Ham United but will be fairly confident of their chances at home to Everton, who have responded to their 5-1 beating at Arsenal last week by registering a convincing 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. Therefore, the visitors will understandably be full of confidence ahead of their clash against Watford this weekend.

Both teams are currently dawdling in mid-table and a win could be vital for both teams, which will spice up, in what is already expected to be a heated encounter this week.

Team News

Watford boss Javi Gracia will miss out on the services of key players such as Nathaniel Chalobah and Will Hughes, both of whom are suffering from injuries. Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is also a doubt while Christian Kabasele and Tom Cleverly are among the other players who will be ruled out for the clash against Everton this weekend.

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Javi Gracia should stick to his 3-4-2-1 formation against the Toffees, who have also embraced a similar three at the back formation in recent weeks. The 3-4-2-1 worked absolute wonders in the game against Chelsea and the Spaniard will be hoping for a similar outcome this week once again.

Coach: Javi Gracia

Orestis Karnezis (GK)

Second choice keeper Orestis Karnezis has been the manager’s preferred choice in the goalkeeping position in recent weeks. The Greek shot-stopper has started in all of Watford’s last five matches, in which he has managed only one clean sheet. Therefore, he’ll be desperate to improve the numbers this weekend.

Daryl Janmaat (RWB)

The Dutchman could retain his place in the starting lineup considering the fact that Spaniard Kiko Femenia is hugely doubtful for the clash. The former Newcastle defender will be an important outlet for Watford going forward.

Jose Holebas (RCB)

The onus will be on the German-born Greek centre-back to lead Watford’s defensive setup this weekend. The veteran defender has been a mainstay in the Watford defence this season and his experience could prove to be useful for the home side.

Adrian Mariappa (CB)

Following the absence of Christian Kabasele, who is currently doubtful for the clash, Adrian Marippa should partner Jose Holebas in the heart of the Watford defence.

Daryl Janmaat

Sebastian Prodl (LCB)

The Austria centre-back will complete Watford’s three-man defensive backline. Sebastian Prodl’s ability to take part in the buildup play will be vital for Watford, especially when in possession.

Marvin Zeegelaar (LWB)

While Daryl Janmaat will start as the right wing-back this weekend, Marvin Zeegelaar is expected to be deployed on the left flank. Zeegelaar has been an important component in the Watford backline and this week will be no different.

Etienne Capoue (RCM)

Tom Cleverly’s absence this weekend could be a huge blow but in the shape of Etienne Capoue, Gracia has an apt backup who can not only help Watford dominate the midfield but also prove to be a vital cog in the defensive phases.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (LDM)

Arguably the best player for the Hornets this season, Abdoulaye Doucoure will partner Etienne Capoue in central midfield. Doucoure has a healthy knack for making some dangerous runs into the opposing channels, which has served him well so far this season, helping him score 7 goals.

Richarlison

Gerard Deulofeu (RAM)

Gracia is not expected to make any changes in the attacking department, meaning Gerard Deulofeu will once again be deployed just behind the main striker. The on-loan Barcelona star has really hit the ground running since his move to Watford earlier this year.

Richarlison (LAM)

The acquisition of Richarlison has been one of the deals of last year’s summer. The Brazilian sensation has been Watford’s main man in the attack, scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists. His offensive partnership with Deulofeu will be one of the things to watch out for.

Troy Deeney (ST)

Club captain Troy Deeney will lead the line for Watford against Everton. His dangerous runs coupled with his ability to score from any territory will be useful, as the home side look to dominate their unpredictable visitors this weekend.
