Good Job Guardiola – Here Are Three Reasons Why Manchester City Is The Team To Beat This Season

Why Manchester City Are The Team To Beat This Season

Having failed to win a single trophy last season, Spanish manager Pep Guardiola is now adamant to make sure that his side have a better time in the upcoming campaign. There were a number of frailties in the squad last season and Guardiola has already addressed most of them this summer.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have also considerably improved their squad for the season ahead but the Etihad outfit seem to be a strong side, that might prove hard to beat. So are they are strongest? Here are three reasons why Manchester City might be the toughest team to beat this season:

Summer recruits

Pep Guardiola has spent more than £200m on the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo for next season and all the players mentioned are expected to play roles in the first team next season. They have added to their attack, midfield and defence this summer and are now one of the strongest sides in England, and arguably in Europe. Guardiola has targeted players to solve particular issues in the squad and surely, they are the team to beat this season.

The Spanish gaffer is easily one of the most respected and decorated managers in world football at the moment. He failed to live up to the expectations in his first season in England but he is still a renowned tactician, who showed glimpses last season of what he can do. He will have a clear plan thia season and having managed to sign some of his top transfers already, he will surely set up his team in a way to frustrate opponents and win games consistently.

Balance in the squad

Most importantly, Manchester City now have a squad that is complete in all fronts. The attack consists of some exciting stars while the midfield is overloaded with quality. Though they might still want to add a centre back to the squad, they have enough top flight experience to hold for against the best sides in the business. The likes of Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva and Vincent Kompany will add experience to a sparkling side full of youngsters, making City one of the most balanced sides in the league. Surely, in the long run, they will become harder and harder to beat.
