Go For It Slutsky – These Two Signings Could Help Hull City To Challenge For Promotion Right away

Hull City

Two Signings Who Would Propel Hull City To An Immediate Promotion

The Tigers’ bad end to the Premier League season could not have been timed any worse and ultimately ended in their relegation from the league. With just a couple of weeks to go, manager Marco Silva had the side playing good football and their form looked like keeping them alive in the Premier League.

The damage it though had been done and Swansea City, for a long time Hull’s biggest rival to avoid the drop, escaped relegation, leaving Hull marooned at 18th place. Given the ownership situation at the club, fans will not expect a myriad of top class signings coming in to make them title favourites.

Hull City will need to be clever in the transfer market and here we look at two potential signings which could add to their quality and put the club in with a chance of going straight back up.

Simon Kjaer (Fenerbahce)

The big defender, who made his name at Palermo in Serie A, now has plenty of big game experience playing in Denmark, Italy, Germany, France and more recently Turkey. 335 first team appearances have come and gone and the 28-year-old is right at his peak now as a top league player.

If the Danish international decides to make the move, he would be a great signing for the club. Kjaer is a very clear step up from those already on the books at Hull and would signal the club’s ambitions.

Mo Diame (Newcastle United)

The expansive attacking midfielder was in the Hull City side which got promoted via the play-offs in 2016, scoring the crucial goal at Wembley that ultimately took the Tigers to the Premier League. Diame repeated the promotion trick by signing for Newcastle last season, going up as a champion on the last day. However, he appears to be surplus to requirements at St James’ Park now.

With Tom Cairney on Newcastle’s radar and Ayoze Perez likely to be retained, Diame is more than likely to leave and not for an exorbitant fee either. An unlikely hat-trick could be on the cards for Diame, with promotion very much the target once more for Hull City and he is still capable of helping them to achieve it.
