Go for it Silva – This 27-year-old would be a perfect fit alongside Andre Gomes and Everton must get him

Why Everton should make a January swoop for Diego Demme

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Everton manager Marco Silva is not convinced by Morgan Schneiderlin.

The 29-year-old arrived at Everton from Manchester United in January 2017 and after putting in some impressive performances, his form faded. The Frenchman, however, started the games against Wolves and Southampton under new Marco Silva. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury against Southampton and only returned to the side in September.

However, since the introduction of Andre Gomes to the Everton starting line-up, Schneiderlin has struggled to make it the first time and was an unused substitute in the 3-1 defeat at Manchester City last weekend. Everton are doing well without Schneiderlin, and it would not be a bad idea for the club to cash in on the Frenchman in the January transfer window.

To put things into perspective, the Toffees must offload Schneiderlin and invest that money on a reliable midfielder who fits Silva’s philosophy and style of play. The Portuguese manager would do a wonderful job if he manages to sign Diego Demme in January.

In 16 Bundesliga games this season, Diego Demme has impressed with his passing and tackling traits. He has been a crucial cog in RB Leipzig’s rise in Germany as well as in Europe in the last couple of years. Such has been the diminutive 27-year-old’s rapid rise in stock that he is now considered as one of the top holding midfielders in the Bundesliga.

Diego Demme is an industrious, tigerish midfielder who is known for his work rate in the middle of the pitch. The German is tenacious, aggressive and is blessed with a fantastic engine that makes him an excellent presser of the ball.

The 27-year-old is a perfect deep-lying playmaker in a high-pressing system, protecting the back four with his defensive work and starting attacks with his passing.

A good reader of the game with a cool and composed head, Demme is adept at tackling and intercepting to break up the play. Due to his impressive passing range, both short and long, the one-time Germany international can dictate the tempo of the game. Furthermore, he is never afraid to jump into tackles, making him an ideal fit for Silva’s system.

All in all, Demme would be the perfect man to partner Andre Gomes in the midfield for Everton. Using the German as a shield for the porous rearguard would definitely help Everton’s cause of achieving a better defensive record. Demme is a quality player and his current club is not likely to let him depart for a measly amount.

However, Everton should test Leipzig’s resolve with their financial muscle as the diminutive Demme has all the attributes to become a smash in the Premier League.
