Why Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling Would Be A Good Signing For Wolves
High-flying Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly targeting a summer move for Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling. Although we still have a few months to go until the end of the season, it is quite clear that the Wolves are ready to make the ascent to the top-flight.
They have been simply unstoppable this season so far and even if they act modest about their achievements, the fact is that no other team can even come close to outperforming them this season.
With a bright Premier League future ahead of them, it does make sense for Nuno Espirito Santo to scout the market for midfield options. In the recently concluded transfer window last month, the club faced a bit of an exodus when it came to their midfielders. The likes of Jack Price, Lee Evans and Ben Marshall all left the club and even though they managed to sign Ben Stevenson from Coventry, they will need reinforcements once the summer window rolls around.
Wolves have been exceptional this season but their time in the top-flight will be a lot tougher with more challenging opponents and to face them, a player like Gosling could prove to be an asset. After all, he has ample experience in the Premier League and has been a loyal soldier for Bournemouth since 2014. In addition to that, Gosling has notched up more than 100 appearances in the top-flight, having played for the likes of Everton and Newcastle before.
This season, he has appeared 21 times for Bournemouth across competitions and has scored two goals as well. At 28 years of age, Gosling is on the cusp of combining his experience and skills, thus making him an option worth exploring.
However, considering the amount of money that has been pumped into the squad and the influence of super-agent Jorge Mendes, one might argue that Gosling is not as dynamic as some of the players that Wolves have signed in recent times.
However, there is no denying that the 28-year-old would prove to be a decent addition in terms of bringing experience and composure in the middle of the park. Hence, Gosling can definitely prove to be a viable option for the Wolves to target, though it remains to be seen if Cherries manager Eddie Howe is ready to part ways with him.
Bournemouth have not been in the best of shapes this season and they might not be too happy at the thought of letting a key player leave to join a potential Premier League rival.
