Jean Micheal Seri Would Be Perfect For Tottenham And Here’s Why

Mauricio Pochettino seems to be pro-active this summer as he is already looking to improve a squad that managed to finish 2nd in the league last season. The Argentine will have to show some improvement and progress next season and he wants some star players at his club to help him in this quest. One player now extensively linked with a move to Tottenham is Ivorian international Jean Michael-Seri.

According to the Daily Mail, the Spurs have enquired about his availability and are planning a move for him this summer. It is understood that he has a £35m release clause and Spurs are reportedly ready to open negotiations for that price with the French outfit Nice in the upcoming days. So is this Ligue1 star the man who Spurs need this summer?

A product of the Africa Sports Academy, Seri was one of the best midfielders on display in the French league last season and his exploits have now taken the Nice to a place in Europe next season. Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, Seri is a central midfielder whose biggest asset is his vision during open play.

He finished with 7 goals and 9 assists in the league, to add to his 2.2 key passes per game, making him one of the most exciting midfielders in the country. He has already made 12 senior appearances for the Ivory Coast national side and is growing in stature.

A strong and an intelligent player who loves to have the ball at his feet, Seri is capable of breaking even the best defences with short passes while his ability to strike from distance is also exemplary. He may not be the strongest in the air but is decent with his hold up play and is a player who can thrive in the English league.

He also has to work on his tackling in the midfield as he is prone to giving away silly fouls. But Pochettino seems to have seen something in him that is tempting him to make a move for the Nice man.

Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele are not going anywhere while Harry Winks and Eric Dier are also waiting in the shed for their place in the first team. Yet, the Spurs need a star who can change things up and Seri could be the right man.

He wouldn’t walk into the Tottenham first team next season but if he can prove himself, he should not take long to become an important part of Pochettino’s squad.
