Three players Tottenham Hotspur should sign in the summer to strengthen their team

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs primed for a big top-four finish and with the race to finish in the Champions League spots heating up, it will be interesting to see how the club fares by the end of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino has done brilliant work in London and it is quite evident from the performances that they are here for the prize. They have quite a solid squad as well, which was further strengthened with the addition of Lucas Moura in the recently concluded January window.

However, with the summer transfer window ahead of us, this is the time for clubs to start scanning the markets to earmark potential candidates. It will certainly be no different for Tottenham, who have been known to work quietly and announce their new transfers towards the very end of the window.

There are certain areas in the squad that Pochettino will need to strengthen ahead of next season – even more so if they manage to secure a Champions League spot. With that in mind, here are three players Spurs could greatly benefit from.

Alban Lafont – Toulouse

Pochettino needs to find a reliable back-up to Hugo Lloris since Michael Vorm will be out of contract in the summer. Moreover, there are questions about Paulo Gazzaniga’s capabilities, thus making a move for Lafont seem like a much-needed step.

The 19-year-old has been attracted attention for all the right reasons. He has proven to be a revelation in front of the net and is regarded as one of the most sensational upcoming talents.

That said, do not let his age fool you. Despite being so young, Lafont is close to making 100 first-team appearances for Toulouse. His displays in goal have been a testament to his fast reflexes and is definitely a target worth considering.

Ryan Sessegnon – Fulham

Sessegnon has been linked to almost every single Premier League top-six club but Tottenham were believed to be the front-runners for the longest time.

He is easily one of the best young English stars at present and given the fact that they were keen on him before, the club must do all they can to land Sessegnon, who can play anywhere on the left side.

Although he is primarily a left-back, he seems like a natural at left-wing as well. Pochettino is known to bring the best out of young stars and he could work wonders with Sessegnon.

Kasper Dolberg – Ajax

One might think it is unnecessary to target a striker when they already have Harry Kane but Spurs need to find a solid long-term backup and to that end, Dolberg seems like the ultimate choice.

Fernando Llorente has done just the bare minimum but it is not enough and especially if Kane leaves over the summer, it will be of utmost importance for Tottenham to find a promising striker.

Even if he does not leave in the upcoming window, there is a possibility that Kane might jump ship in the near future, thus making Dolberg an attractive option, who could bang the goals in for Spurs.
