Go For It Klopp – This £15m French Midfielder Could Be The Ideal Man For Liverpool

Why Liverpool Should Continue Their Pursuit Of Benjamin Andre

The first month of the transfer window was a busy one for Liverpool but since the turn of the month, the fans of the club have hardly had any rumours to feed on. However, they were treated to an interesting story that claimed that the Reds are preparing to bid for French midfielder Benjamin Andre.

According to a French news outfit, Liverpool were ready to make a bid of £15m for the French national but they were dealt a huge blow today after the player came out and spoke about his future.

In a recent interview, Andre revealed that he is happy with his current club and that he has some serious plans for his future in France. He only signed a contract extension in June this year but is expected to cost only £15m. So, should Liverpool consider pursuing his signature?

Born and raised in Nice, France, the 26-year old holding midfielder played for the France U21 national side but failed to break into the senior side. He started his senior footballing career in France with Ajaccio, where he made 187 league appearances for the senior side in six years. He moved to Rennes, another French outfit, in 2014 and has cemented a place in their first team.

A defensive midfielder by trait, Andre is a beast in the middle of the field as he can single-handedly keep the backline away from danger. Acting as the first line of defence, Andre loves to dominate the area in front of the box and his aggressive and physical approach makes him a frustrating man to face.

Known for his strength and ability to win balls in the air, the 26-year old puts in some stupendous tackles and has also learnt the art of hold-up play. Though he may not be an established superstar in Europe, he has all the attributes to become a star player in England.

Liverpool have Jordan Henderson and Emre Can as options for the holding midfield role and they have allowed the likes of Lucas Leiva and Kevin Stewart quit the club, which will leave them a bit short in this position.

So it does not come as a surprise that Klopp wants to spend a minimal amount on a fringe player, who will spend most of his time at Anfield on the bench. Liverpool are active in Europe this season and will need as much depth as they can. So Andre is an option they should certainly look at, now more than ever, with time quickly running out.
