Why Jurgen Klopp Should Not Miss Out On Ruben Neves

Jurgen Klopp has been a busy man ever since the Premier League came to an end. He helped the Anfield outfit to the Champions League for the first time in three years and is now planning to add some top-class players to the club this summer, to help them compete with the best next season. He has been linked with some of the finest stars in Europe and the latest name to be linked with a move to Anfield is Portuguese starlet Ruben Neves.

A product of the Porto Academy, Neves is one of the brightest youngsters in world football at the moment and is already attracting interests from some of the finest clubs in Europe. Portuguese news outfit A Bola have now revealed that English clubs Chelsea and Liverpool are monitoring his situation and are ready to open the talks regarding a move this summer.

Who Is Neves And How Will He Fit In At Anfield?

A central midfielder who is comfortable playing as the deepest of the midfielders for his side, the 20-year old already has 59 senior appearances in the Portuguese league, along with two Portugal caps to his name. An exemplary passer with an unimaginable vision to go with, Neves is a player capable of scoring long rangers quite regularly.

He is not a great finisher but is a player who loves to dictate the game from a deeper midfield role, sitting just ahead of the backline. He can find his man over the length of the field and is a superb asset to have in counter-attacking situations. However, his biggest strength is the number of key passes he accumulates in the final third despite being a player who plays in a central midfield role.

Though he is not strong in the air, he is a player who loves a crunching tackle or two and has already learnt the art of hold up play. At just 20, he is still learning the game and is expected to improve further.

The Reds have Emre Can and Jordan Henderson who can play this role to decent effect but they have been looking to add a quality player to improve the depth and have been looking at the likes of Naby Keita from LB Leipzig. However, Neves is as exciting a prospect as Keita, albeit not a proven one. But at his age, he will only get better and if Klopp thinks he is worth the fuzz, he could easily turn out to be a future star at Anfield.

Though he is not exactly the player who will aid Liverpool in their title pursuit, he will surely have his own impact, even in his first season at the club. So Klopp cannot afford to miss out on Neves if the opportunity presents itself.
