Three Bundesliga Players Who Liverpool Should Target In January

Jurgen Klopp has made a number of additions to the squad at Anfield since his move to England a couple of years ago but he is yet to win any kind of silverware, failing to take the Reds back to their glory days. The likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip have all established themselves in the first team of Liverpool but the squad is still lacking quality players at certain positions on the pitch.

So Klopp will look to make amends in the January transfer window ad will look to sign players who can help Liverpool back to their best. He might want to dip into the Bundesliga transfer market, a familiar area for him, to recruit more players. Here are three players he should look to sign from the German league after the turn of the year.

Leon Goretzka (Schalke)

The German midfielder is in the final year of his contract with the German club and is not too keen on extending his stay at the club. Over the last few years, the 22-year old has turned into one of the most exciting midfielders around and has also established himself at the international level. He is wanted by a number of top clubs across Europe and Liverpool will have to work really hard to persuade Schalke to let him leave in January.

Max Meyer (Schalke)

Another player whose contract will be up at the end of the season is Max Meyer, who was linked with a move to Liverpool in the recent transfer window. Having failed to realize his potential at Schalke, Meyer is ready to quit and has rejected a number of contract proposals.

He is also wanted by the elite clubs in Europe but Liverpool seem to have an edge and might be able to lure him to Anfield. He can sign a pre-contract in January but Klopp will try to tempt Schalke into selling him, cutting some losses they would incur if he leaves on a free transfer later next year.

Neven Subotic (Borussia Dortmund)

A player who has constantly been linked with a move to Anfield for more than a couple of years now, Subotic is one of the most experienced defenders in Germany at the moment and could be a temporary solution to Liverpool’s CB problems this season. He has what it takes to improve a weak defensive unit at Anfield and this could be the perfect time for Liverpool to land him.
