2 Attackers Nottingham Forest Should Look To Sign This Month
Nottingham Forest are going through another transitional period after the departure of manager Mark Warburton.
A remarkable FA Cup third round win over Premier League giants Arsenal (4-2) was quickly followed by a demoralising 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa in the league which brought fans and players right back down to earth and further underlined that improvement is well needed under Aitor Karanka.
Most of that improvement is likely to be required in the way of new players coming in and its the attacking area where Forest arguably need reinforcements.
In terms of numbers, they are up to the mark, as most clubs tend to be, with Barrie McKay, Tyler Walker, Apostolos Vellios, Daryl Murphy, Ben Brereton, Zack Clough, Jamie Ward and others in the team but honestly, quality is few and far on the pitch and most have not proven to be successful.
Ben Brereton is the one to watch out for in the future but having parted company with Jason Cummings at least for now, another attacker should be brought in to ensure that the club don’t struggle for goals in the same way that Middlesbrough did in the Premier League under this same manager.
Here we look at two possible signings Karanka could make to give the Tricky Trees more potency:
Charly Musonda (Chelsea)
The attacking midfield player can break into the box from out wide or in the No.10 role with great efficiency and has been linked with a whole host of clubs, having spent time on loan this season at Real Betis.
The Under-21 Belgian International is still highly rated by those at Stamford Bridge and they feel more first-team experience will do him a world of good. Having previously played in the La Liga, the Championship will be the next best place for him to achieve that.
Tom Bradshaw (Barnsley)
He doesn’t get mentioned an awful lot in terms of high profile moves but Bradshaw has netted 8 times in 27 Championship matches this term for a Barnsley side that is not exactly riddled with goals. He scored the same amount of goals last season in 42 games which certainly shows he is improving, allied with his record of 17 goals in two consecutive League One seasons for Walsall.
By next season, we could be talking about Bradshaw as a 20 goal-plus man at this level and I’m willing to bet he wouldn’t cost big bucks to get to the City Ground either.
