Why Manchester United must go all out to secure a deal for Hirving Lozano

According to a report by Daily Star, Manchester United are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano this summer. The fiery Mexican rose to prominence for his effortless attacking displays last season and his exploits in the World Cup were admirable as well.

It comes as no surprise that the Red Devils are targetting a move for him. One might argue that Jose Mourinho already has a plethora of attacking talent at his disposal but United are in dire need of a true-blue right-winger.

Over the course of the previous campaign, Jose Mourinho had to deal with numerous options for the left-wing. Prior to the January window, the Portuguese gaffer had to alternate between Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

However, Alexis Sanchez arrived from Arsenal earlier in January and from then on, he has had three quality left-wing options at his disposal. While it is important to ensure squad depth, United must strengthen their forces on the opposite wing as well.

Mourinho resorted to utilizing the likes of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard on the right-wing but neither of the two is a natural winger. To that end, a move for Lozano seems quite ideal. He is one of the most promising talents in Europe right now and is a solid force to reckon with at right-wing.

Blessed with ample speed, tenacity and goalscoring skills, Lozano could make all the difference for United next season. Also, at 22 years of age, he would be a great long-term prospect for the club.

The report further states that United are interested in signing Willian from Chelsea but given the circumstances, a move for Lozano should prove to be beneficial.

The Blues will certainly not let the Brazilian leave for cheap and with that in mind, it would be better for the Red Devils to spend money on procuring Lozano instead. His incisiveness, creativity and attacking capabilities will add an extra dimension for United in the final third next season.

Hence, United must not hesitate and go all out to sign the talented Mexican speed machine. After all, the right-wing continues to be a problematic area for the club.

Regardless of how they reinforce other areas of the pitch, United’s performances will elevate further only with the presence of a solid winger like Lozano. Following Manchester City’s title win last season, the Red Devils must do everything they can to bring Lozano to Old Trafford.
