Go for it Heckingbottom – 3 players who could add real quality to Leeds including £2million League One star

Three Players Who Could Add Real Quality To Leeds United Ranks

Leeds United, unfortunately for their massive band of long-suffering fans, continue to be a club in turmoil and once again, have ditched a manager and perhaps a chance at Premier League football with it.

They need something to go their way but at least they have some funds, unlike others in this division, and so can splash the cash a little at the end of the season in order to improve their squad. Here are three longer-term targets who could all yet add quality to the side:

Marcus Maddison (Peterborough United)

On a personal note, I would love to see Maddison get to the Championship at least as I watched him dozens of times for Newcastle’s best under-18 side for a generation when he was excellent, time and again. It was clear he was going to make it in the game.

After another season of improvement for Peterborough in League One, Maddison is now on the radar of higher level clubs, including Leeds, and could be bought for around £2million, which would make him a proper bargain in my opinion.

He could challenge Alioski at first before proving himself as the better player. Maddison likes to start on the right-hand side and cuts inside on to his favoured left foot. He brings with him some expert dead ball play too.

Josh Vela (Bolton Wanderers)

Bolton’s midfield man is clearly one of their better players and much is still expected of him in the future, though the Lancashire club have made no secret of the fact that he may be sold soon to raise some funds.

It seems Vela could be available for £3.5million and to be fair, given that Leeds have spent almost £3.6million on the permanent signing of Pontus Jansson and recently another £4.5million on Adam Forshaw, to spend this sort of money on someone we know can do the job would be no rip-off.

Jack Marriott (Peterborough United)

Marriott confirmed his reputation and added to his transfer value when he scored a brace against Aston Villa in the FA Cup this season, as his League One side turned over their illustrious opponents at Villa Park.

That now means Marriott has a total of 24 goals and 4 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions this term and his performances certainly haven’t gone unnoticed.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has reportedly rejected bids of around £3.5million for the striker from unnamed clubs, though it is thought that Leeds United were the main bidders for the former Luton Town man.
