Go For It Harris: 2 Players Millwall Should Sign Before Deadline Day Including This Arsenal Ace

More Signings – Two More Incoming Transfers Millwall Could Complete Before The Deadline Day

Lions boss Neil Harris wanted to sign at least two more players for his Millwall side before beginning their Championship season against Nottingham Forest on August 4th. The club have brought in Ryan Tunnicliffe from Fulham and Jake Cooper from Reading since then to add to the five players that had already arrived at the Den in a relatively busy transfer window this summer.

While the squad does look balanced at the time, it is likely that a couple of more players will arrive, as that could turn out to be the difference between staying up and going down. And here are two realistic targets the club could try to sign:

Sebastien Bassong (Free Agent)

A Strong and solid defence is a must for a team to survive the test in the Championship and more defensive reinforcements wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Lions ahead of next season.

One name that might be worth considering is that of former Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong, who is a free agent now after being released by the club. The 31-year old did not play a lot over the past year and made just 13 appearances, but is someone who is proven at this level and has performed very well in the past. Someone with over 170 Premier League appearances and experience in the Championship as well, having a seasoned professional like him in the squad can prove to be invaluable. Wages might be a bone of contention, but with no suitors for the player as of yet, maybe something can be worked out.

Stephy Mavididi (Arsenal)

Another player not too far away from Millwall is Arsenal’s Mavididi, a 19-year-old striker who could perhaps arrive on loan. Mavididi scored 6 in 11 games for Arsenal’s under-23 side while in league action last term, though he didn’t manage to hit the net during a brief stint on loan at Charlton Athletic.

He was named on Arsenal’s bench for two League Cup ties last season and is one of a string of highly thought of players having risen through the Gunners’ academy and could well be worth a punt for Harris. He has obvious qualities and if getting even close to Arsenal quality at some point in the future could well be better than anything Millwall have on their books right now.

Harris himself was a goal scorer and so he’d know a good striker when he sees one, meaning any encouragement he shows the board when it comes to Mavididi should be backed up with an attractive package for Arsenal, in Millwall playing their part in his development.

Even a tally of around 10 goals for the youngster would mean a successful move, and those sorts of figures could be the difference between staying up and going down.
