Norwich City opinion: Should Daniel Farke sign Chiquinho?

According to a report from SLB France, Norwich are among a bunch of clubs interested in signing Moreirense’s 23-year-old attacking midfielder Chiquinho. The report reveals that Norwich are rivalled by Italian side Genoa and Spain’s Real Betis for the signature of the young midfielder.

However, the deal to bring in the Portuguese starlet involves a ton of complications, which might put off the Canaries. According to the report, a part of Chiquinho’s contract is owned by Liga NOS champions Benfica.

Benfica have the right to match any bid for the attacking midfielder and they are also set to receive 50% of the fee for which he is sold. However, Norwich have a way to sign Chiquinho without getting Benfica involved and that is by triggering his €10million release clause in the summer.

Norwich are expected to comfortably win the Championship as they sit 7 points above second-placed Sheffield United. The Canaries will be in the Premier League next season barring a miracle and Daniel Farke should concentrate on bringing in reinforcements in the summer.

Norwich have been heavily reliant on Marco Stiepermann for his creativity from the number 10 role and the German has had a brilliant impact for the club, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists.

However, the Canaries need to improve their squad depth when they get to the Premier League and one of the key areas where Farke needs to bring in a player is in attacking midfield.
