Go for it Emery – Arsenal signing this young French midfield genius could be the start of something special

According to reports, Arsenal are set to complete the signing of teenage prodigy Yacine Adli from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 17-year-old worked under new Arsenal head coach Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes. Adli is considered as one of the hottest prospects in the PSG youth academy and was reportedly a target for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well.

Emery has big boots to fill in after replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. And the Spanish tactician is wasting no time to reshape his squad, with Adli expected to be his first signing of the summer.

For people who are not aware of Adli, the 17-year-old is an attacking midfielder by trade and was an outstanding youth prospect for PSG last season. He has tremendous potential and has already featured for France at the Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels, scoring 13 times in 33 appearances.

At 17, Adli has a senior appearance to show for as Emery handed him his senior debut at PSG in the final match of the Ligue 1 season away at Caen.

The teenage prodigy is blessed with excellent technique and good vision. He is a promising midfielder and even looks like his teammate Adrien Rabiot, who is another PSG graduate. While Rabiot is a central midfielder, Adli is more creative and inventive as a midfielder. Along with excellent passing and crossing skills, he is technically gifted and possesses a silky touch on the ball.

It goes without saying that Adli is a commanding presence in the middle of the park and knows how to use his height to good effect. Apart from being composed on the ball and strong in the air, the 17-year-old is also versatile as he is capable of playing behind the striker and out wide.

He can play anywhere across the attack with equal ease and poise, while his composure in front of goal is second to nothing at such a tender age.

In Arsenal’s pursuit of Adli, Emery’s extensive knowledge about PSG will prove to be a decisive factor. And now, the time has come for the Gunners to be shrewd and bold in the transfer market.

Arsenal do not have an unlimited financial backing and that makes a strong case for them to be wise and clever in transfer dealings. This is why the signing of Adli is an exciting one for the north Londoners.

The 17-year-old may be an unknown talent for many but the Gunners will need more of the same over the next few years if they are to rub shoulders with Europe’s elite. Adli’s potential signing could be the start of something special in Emery’s era at the Emirates.
