Good Move For All Parties – Why The Thomas Lemar-Michy Batshuayi Swap Deal Can Work Wonders For Everybody Involved

Easily one of the hottest prospects in world football at the moment, Thomas Lemar is being subjected to a lot of interest from several clubs yet again. With the January window coming up, clubs in England are expected to make insane bids to land him for the rest of the season.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been plotting big money moves for the 22-year old but Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, who were in the periphery in stories concerning Lemar, are now looking to make a stunning move for the French international.

Reports in France claim that the Blues have grown desperate for a winger of Lemar’s quality are and are looking to do what it takes to land him in January. The story claims that Chelsea are not only ready to meet his valuation but are also ready to offer fringe striker Michy Batshuayi as a part of the deal to land the youngster. Is it the best move for all involved?

Belgian youngster Batshuayi has been decent in most outings this season for Chelsea but standing as the back up to first-choice striker Alvaro Morata, he has just not done enough to retain his place in the side under Conte. The manager is now looking to add to his attack to help him face the best in Europe and he is ready to sacrifice Batshuayi to land a gem in Lemar.

Michy Batshuayi

With two goals and three assists in 11 Ligue 1 starts this season, the winger is well on his way to repeating his feat of nine goals and 10 assists from the previous season and is easily one of the most exciting youngsters on display in Europe at the moment.

He is wanted by every top club in the world and it does not come as a surprise that Chelsea have joined the race for his signature. Known for his pace, creativity, technical ability, industry and discipline, Lemar is a genuine match-winner, who can not only create goals from the wing but can also score them on a regular basis.

He is strong and smart with his movements in the final third and is perfect for the English style of play. Though not a natural upgrade on the likes of Chelsea’s Willian and Pedro, Lemar’s versatility and value addition could see him displace the duo and walk into the first team.

At just 22, he is only going to get better with more game time under his belt. Sending Batshuayi the other way might mean that Chelsea have to buy another striker but a striker is already a necessity at the Bridge and the fact that Lemar is an upgrade on Batshuayi should make this an easy decision for the Blues.
