Ghezzal, Maddison and Vardy to start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Leicester City XI to face Man United

Predicted Leicester City XI to face Manchester United in the Premier League

Leicester City will be confident of grinding out a result against a Manchester United side who have looked far from impressive in pre-season. The Red Devils are also without a number of first-team stars through injury or World Cup duty.

Claude Puel has successfully strengthened the squad in key areas, with the latest addition coming in the form of Caglar Soyuncu, Filip Benkovic and Rachid Ghezzal.

Ghezzal looks like a direct replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left the club for Manchester City. Puel also strengthened the defence by adding the likes of Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira.

The Foxes will be confident ahead of their opening day clash.

Team News

Leicester manager Claude Puel must decide whether to include Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire after their exploits at the World Cup. If found fit, they should start.

New signings Jonny Evans and James Maddison are available after injuries. Demarai Gray is fit as well, while Ricardo Pereira and Rachid Ghezzal could be involved.

Probable Leicester City XI

Manager: Claude Puel

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Foxes shot-stopper was sensational for Denmark at the World Cup. He will certainly be Leicester’s No.1 this season.

Ben Chilwell (LB)

The youngster proved his talent after being given a regular run of games under Claude Puel last season. He must now be given a role in the squad right from the start.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Currently the best English defender in the league and the Foxes’ most reliable man. Leicester have a gem in their ranks and he is crucial for the team.

Harry Maguire

Jonny Evans (CB)

The former Red Devils defender was signed from West Bromwich after the club got relegated to the Championship. He should be partnered alongside Maguire.

Ricardo Pereira (RB)

The right-back arrived at the King Power with much expectation and should start at right-back.

Adrien Silva (CM)

Silva’s passing ability and distribution on the ball will be crucial for the Foxes this season. His supply in the final third will be crucial to their chances going forward.

Vicente Iborra (CM)

He will provide the midfield with some much-needed stability and defensive cover.

Rachid Ghezzal (RW)

The winger is a direct replacement for the departed Riyad Mahrez. Both players possess similar qualities, which could see Ghezzal hit top form in no time.

Marc Albrighton

James Maddison (CAM)

The former Norwich City midfielder has looked impressive in training and has been fielded in his favoured central attacking midfield role by Claude Puel.

Marc Albrighton (LW)

Albrighton’s crosses into the box have always played a crucial role for the Foxes. His supply will be vital for the club once again.
