Why Fulham should sign Daniel Amartey before the deadline

According to a report in Leicester Mercury, Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey is being linked with a move away from the club before the transfer window deadline.

Among the clubs interested, Championship side Fulham are in the race for the player while newly-promoted Sheffield United are also keen on signing him. (h/t Leicester Mercury)

As per the report, the Cottagers have already made an enquiry about a possible move for the player, who can play in the midfield and the defence with great control. (h/t (h/t Leicester Mercury)

Amartey arrived at the King Power Stadium back in the summer of 2016 but he hasn’t been able to really nail his place down as one of the first-choice players.

Here’s why it would be good for him and for Fulham to join hands for this season and beyond:

Amartey would be a versatile addition to the team

Daniel Amartey, as mentioned above, is a versatile player and can play in the midfield and the defence. If we look at it in detail, he is capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, a right-back and as a centre-back.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been a regular part of the Leicester team since arriving in 2016 but his flexibility was on display whenever given the opportunity.

In terms of attributes, Amartey is a physically strong player on/off the ball and reads the game well to defend. His pace is good enough to make runs up and down the field while he is also a good passer of the ball.

If Fulham manage to sign him before Thursday’s deadline, they would succeed at solidifying a back-line that was prone to conceding goals at will last season.

Conclusion

Thus, it has to be said that the Cottagers would benefit a lot from having Daniel Amartey in their squad. From the player’s point of view, it is possible for him to receive more game time at Craven Cottage as compared to the King Power Stadium.
