Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard is all set to sign a new 1 year contract according to sources.
The Chelsea legend is in a fine goal scoring form yet again this season and constant pressure from fans and critics looks to have paid off as the Chelsea board now seem set to offer their midfield maestro a new 1 year contract.
Lampard is all set to become Chelsea’s all time top scorer having score 197 goals already for the Blues. He is 5 behind Bobby Tambling’s record of 202. And his wonder strike for England against Brazil last night has triggered even more criticism from pundits towards the Chelsea board for not giving him a contract extension.
Sources close to the deal have said the talks are “positive” according to theDaily Mail.
Current England manager Roy Hodgson has also raised his voice over the issue.
“I hope we will keep Frank in England,” Hodgson said after last night’s win. “I know he will have a lot of offers if Chelsea do decide they’re prepared to let him go. I’m rather hoping we’ll still see him if not in England then Europe which will make my task easier.”
Though the current season has been hard on the Chelsea fans, starting from Drogba’s departure to Di Matteo’s sacking and appointment of Rafa, seeing Lampard play for Chelsea for 1 more year will certainly be a major compensation for the Blue faithful.
