Fosu-Mensah And Fellaini Starts – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Line-Up To Face Wigan Athletic

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United managed to get into finals of the League Cup this season with a victory over Hull City at the KCOM this week in the 2nd leg of the semi-final. Though they lost the game 2-1, they managed to move into the final, 3-2 on aggregate and will play Southampton at Wembley. They will now have to turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend as they face a home tie against Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho is expected to go for a win as looks to fight for another trophy in his first season at the club. Wigan are a decent side and Mourinho will hope that his side do not take the tie to the second leg. This might see him play a strong side on the night and here is the predicted lineup that Mourinho might field for this game:

Team News:

Defender Eric Bailly is off to the AFCON and is absent for this game and remains the only injury concern for United for this game.

Expected lineup (4-2-3-1):

Sergio Romero:

Though not the first choice for Mourinho this season, Romero has been decent when called upon and should start this FA Cup tie.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah:

The youngster has been impressive on his previous outing in this competition and Mourinho should pick him up for this weekend’s clash.

Chris Smalling:

The English defender is no more the first choice for the manager but he will get a chance to prove himself in this FA Cup tie.

Phil Jones:

The first choice center back for Mourinho this season, Jones should partner Smalling at the back against Wigan Athletic.

Luke Shaw:

The English full-back has not been able to break into the first team after coming back from an injury but he will get his chance to impress this weekend.

Marouane Fellaini:

The former Everton man is not a part of the best XI for Mourinho this season but he will get a chance to impress in this 4th round FA Cup tie.

Ander Herrera:

The lynchpin of the Manchester United midfield, Herrera is too important to the squad to be dropped for a knockout fixture.

Jesse Lingard:

The English winger has put in some decent performances when called upon this season and Mourinho should play him on the right-flank on the night.

Juan Mata:

The Spanish playmaker has been in decent form recently and Manchester United will hope that he has a decent game to help them to a comfortable victory.

Anthony Martial:

Having put in some inconsistent performances recently, Martial remains an important player for Mourinho and should be back on the night at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford:

The youngster is slowly getting back to form and the manager will hope that this FA Cup tie can get the best out of him for the rest of the season.
