Fosu-Mensah And Martial To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Line-up To Face Middlesbrough

Predicted Manchester United Lineup To Face West Brom

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are back in action this weekend after the international break as they face a home tie against Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. The Red Devils are unbeaten in the league in their last 18 games and are fresh from a victory over Middlesbrough in the previous round. They are still a few points off a place in the top-4 but a victory in this game can potentially take them closer to Liverpool who are at 4th place. The Baggies beat Arsenal in their previous game and will hope to put in a similar performance to try and get close to a place in Europe but Manchester United are expected to get the job done, playing in front of their home crowd.

Team News:

Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both out of this game through suspension. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones pulled out of the national squad and might not be back in time for this tie. Marouane Fellaini is also a doubt after he picked up a toe injury on national duty, while Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba also have niggles which might cause them to miss this tie.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – David de Gea

The Spaniard has been brilliant for Manchester United and is a certain starter for Jose Mourinho. No doubts about this position for sure.

RB – Antonio Valencia

The first choice right-back for Mourinho has been excellent throughout the season and will hope to have a productive game this weekend.

CB – Eric Bailly

The summer signing is the only recognized centre-back available for selection and will surely start this game. He will have to be alert during set-piece routines to handle the aerial threat posed by the West Brom players.

CB – Marcos Rojo

Partnering Bailly at the back should be Marcos Rojo who has been good when playing at the heart of the denfence this season.

LB – Daley Blind

Though Darmian and Shaw are also available, Mourinho might go with the experience of Blind and will expect the Dutchman to perform better than how he did for Netherlands during the international break.

CM – Michael Carrick

One of the few midfielders in the side who are up for selection, Carrick is expected to start as the deepest midfielder in this game for United.

CM – Timothy Fosu Mensah

Though not a regular in the first team in the league, injuries to Fellaini and Pogba along with the suspension of Herrera should see the young midfielder partner Carrick in central midfield.

RW – Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The Armenian has been great for Manchester United this season and the lack of options should definitely see him start this game on the right.

CAM – Juan Mata

The Spanish playmaker has not been able to cement a place in the side this season but this game will give him a chance to impress the manager.

LW – Anthony Martial

The French international had a good time with the French National team and is expected to return to the starting XI in the first game after the break.

ST – Marcus Rashford

The young attacker has not been consistent this season but lack of options should see him lead the attacking line for his side in this tie.

This is how they would line up:
