Former Liverpool Stars Reunited At Istanbul

Former Liverpool stars Kuyt and Raul Meireles has reunited at Istanbul. Raul Meireles, who has signed for Fenerbahce recently is  set to become Kuyt’s neighbour in the  Beykoz area of Istanbul. Meireles has joined Fenerbahce from Premier league club Chelsea for a deal worth of  £8m on a four year contract.

But both the players played together for Liverpool during the season 2010-11 and is set to reunite again at Fenerbahce . Kuyt was the first one to join the Turkish club this summer and has reportedly played a major role in the signing of Raul Meireles as he has convinced him to make the move.

Kuyt & Meireles reunited in Istanbul

The Portuguese international midfielder speaking to FB TV, said,

“I had a great season playing at Liverpool with Kuyt, he told me about Fenerbahçe and encouraged me to make the move.”

Meireles won PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in 2011 during his time playing at Liverpool. The 29-year-old midfielder had a decent record during his time at Anfield as he made five assists and scored five times before joining Chelsea on a €13.5 million move. Meireles went on to help Chelsea lift the Champions League last season and win the FA Cup.  Coincidentally two Turkish players are now playing at Liverpool, Nuri Şahin and Samed Yeşil. And Nuri Şahin became the first Turkish player in club history to have played for the Merceyside club when he made his debut last weekend against Arsenal.
