Liverpool has lost several notable names this season and while many of them tried to renew their contract one in particular feels that leaving Anfield was the right decision.
Joe Allen signed for Stoke City last month and has said that he feels the move was the right decision for him after spending four years at Anfield. The Wales international moved from Swansea to Liverpool in 2012 and made 132 appearances for the club. While he has been a regular player for Liverpool over the years, he could not do the same under Jurgen Klopp.
At 26 he is at the peak of his career and it is only natural that he will want to play more regularly than what he was afforded in Liverpool. Speaking to the media he mentioned that he feels privileged to have played for Liverpool but the move is something that felt right. He moved to Stoke for a reported transfer fee of £13 million.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Allen mentioned, “I’m excited about the future in my career. At 26, the best years are still in front of me and naturally I’m looking forward to them. I look back and I’ve got fond memories. It was a huge privilege to play for a club like Liverpool but the timing was right for me to move on.”
