One of the first signings that the new boss at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho, made this summer was Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 35-year old has already shown that he can excel in the Premier League and might help Manchester United to glory but the fans of the club will know that he is not the long-term fix that their squad needs. This has seen the manager scout for some of the best attackers in the world and two names that have been doing the rounds recently are Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez. Here is our attempt to find who will best suit the Old Trafford outfit in years to come:

A Ballon d’Or nominee and one of the most inform strikers in Europe at the moment, Griezmann has been a long-term target for the Red Devils who are convinced that he is the man that can lead the side in the future. His competitor, James Rodriguez, is also one of the best talents around the world. Both players will immensely increase the quality in attack for the side but both the players provide their own threats to the squad.

The French international is a gifted player who took the Spanish outfit to the Champions League final and his country to the EURO16 final earlier this year. He is a top class finisher with a great eye for goal and is a player who will thrive in the Premier League. He is not the strongest in the air but is more than decent in holding up the ball and allowing his teammates to run beyond, something that will sit right with the style at United. He has won 53% of his ariel duels this season, which is on the higher side for a striker and will surely add an edge to United’s attack.

His cross-city colleague; James Rodrigez has a completely different set of attributes. A superb passer (85% pass completion rate this season) with a gem of a strong foot that sends the ball into the back of the net from different ranges and angles (100% shot accuracy this season), the 25-year old will take one of the most important places in the side just behind the striker. He will provide the goal threat the Griezmann provides and will also add some mettle to the midfield that can allow United to become a stronger outfit than it is this season. He is patient in possession and does not mind taking on a player when needed, and playing around the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will bring the best out of him.

Both players are among the best in the world at the moment and will help United in their own way but Antoine Griezmann should be the man that United should spill their money on next summer. He will not be available on cheap but if ever there was an investment worth it, Griezmann might be it. Entering the best years of his football career, Griezmann is in the form of his life and has gathered enough experience to adjust to the Premier League. Though he might struggle initially, his stature will buy him enough time to settle into the side and take them back to their winning days. Rodriguez will also be expensive and will serve a different purpose but his addition to the squad might not make Manchester Untied the best in Europe. Who do you think is best suited to lead United’s attack in years to come?
