The Premier League crown has eluded Manchester United since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2013 when they last won it. Currently occupying the eighth position on the league table, the of them winning the title is high after being considered as falling out of the title race.

The club has only featured twice in the Champion League in four seasons; in 2013/2014 season during David Moyes era and when Louis Van Gaal was in charge. Moyes inherited a team that was already in the Europe elite competition following their triumph in the league the previous season while Van Gaal guided them back to Europe in his first season but missed out the following season ending his reign at Old Trafford.

Over 300 million pounds have spent on rebuilding the team especially the striking department, including the British record transfer of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid but it has never been what it used to be before.

Jose Mourinho was brought in and things were expected to change. In fact, the expectations were high after the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to bolster the attack and the world record signing of Paul Pogba. Those signings were actually envisaged to bring some fear factor back to the Manchester Club but it seems the delivery has been the opposite.

After winning the first three league games, things went haywire again and the struggles in front of goal resumed. The attacking rate has not been something interesting, managing just 14 goals in ten games in the league and six goals in their last six games in all competitions.

It is high time the forward line is rebuilt. Over reliance on two old attacking players Zlatan Ibrahimovic (35) and Wayne Rooney (31) cannot bring the desired result and this has manifested itself this season already. Ibrahimovic has managed only six goals so far while Rooney can boast of just one goal this season.

Youngsters like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been used mostly on the flanks this season and it might equally be too early for them to lead the club’s attacking line on a regular basis. United were linked with a number of promising talents in the summer but none saw the light of the day.

Here are three strikers United may bring to Old Trafford in the summer:

Mousa Dembele (Celtic)

Though twenty years of age, the Frenchman has been in sparkling form for Celtic, netting 16 times in 23 games for the Scottish club so far this season. He has reportedly caught the attention of United and move for him is expected in the summer.

Harry Kane (Tottenham)

His side top goal scorer in the last two season and the Golden Boot Winner in the Premier League last season, the 23-year-old has what it takes to deliver at the level expected of him even though it will cost some millions of pounds.

Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

The Belgian international and former Chelsea player has showed that he has what it takes to operate at a higher level. Just 23 years, he a whopping 123 goals to his name, a record only bettered by Ronaldo (194), Raul (145), Messi (127) and Sergio Aguero (124) at that age.
