Wealth Of Veterans – Two Experienced Players Who Tottenham Should Sign This Summer

Mauricio Pochettino has got a system that is working just fine at the White Hart Lane as he has seen his side qualify for the Champions League in the last two seasons. He has a recruitment model, which has helped him find some of the finest youngsters in the game, to get them together and play an exciting brand of football.

However, they have fallen short time and again at the crucial stage and one cannot help but think that the lack of winning experience among the bunch of players at the club, is a serious issue. Pochettino has revealed that he is not looking to make too many high profile signings but he will know that he can do with a couple of backup options in the squad, that will help them take the next step. Here are two such experienced and established players Spurs should look to sign this summer:

Fernando Llorente (Swansea)

The Spanish striker only moved to England last summer but has already made a lasting impression in the country, scoring 15 goals in 33 appearances at the Liberty Stadium last summer. His former employee Antonio Conte is looking at him as a possible option for his Champions elite side at the Bridge but Llorente has decided to stay back at the Welsh club as the first choice for another season.

However, Spurs are in desperate need of a top class backup for Harry Kane in the first team and with Vincent Janssen failing to impress, Llorente could be a good option. He is tailor-made for the English game and will surely come in handy, even in the Champions League for Spurs.

Jesus Navas (free agent)

Though not a popular choice among Tottenham supporters, Jesus Navas who is extensively linked with a move to Spanish side Sevilla, is also a decent option for the Spurs this summer. Having won the league title in his time at the Etihad, Navas was a regular in the side before Pep arrived and has now been released by Manchester City.

He is unable to finalize his move back to Spain, and with an ultimatum already issued from the La Liga outfit, Navas might have to find a place in any of the sides in England. Coming in for free, with loads of experience and pace to burn, Navas could be a decent backup option for Pochettino, in more roles than one.
