Forget Willian: Why Chelsea Must Act Fast To Secure The Signing Of This £11.5 Brazilian

It’s not very often that young footballers manage to make an impression in their very first season in a new League and that too in the English Premier League. But Watford’s Richarlison has managed make a better impact than some of the other expensive footballers in England’s top tier.

Having joined for £11.5million from Fluminense in the summer, the 20-year-old Hornets winger has managed to make an impressive start to his Premier League career, with 5 goals and 5 assists in just 14 League appearances.

His performances over the seasons have certainly earned praise from several pundits and supposedly even Chelsea FC. Antonio Conte hasn’t been using Willian on a regular basis this season, with the 29-year-old seeing minimum game time compared to any of his previous seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are currently lacking depth in the midfield and with the growing possibility of Willian’s departure in the summer, Richarlison could very well be the perfect replacement for his compatriot.

He offers a lot of pace and can play in multiple positions, even as a striker. He offers versatility, creativity and technique, just like Willian, and should be able to forge an excellent partnership with Eden Hazard.

Watford were lucky enough to snatch away the Brazilian from Fluminense before Ajax FC could make their move and Richarlison is also lucky to be playing in England, having got a work permit without even playing for the Brazil national team. But he could possibly make his international debut for the Selecao very soon, given his current form.

His development is very transparent, with the 20-year-old getting better and better with every game he plays. He has also managed to quickly adapt to English football. Even Watford manager Marco Silva has admitted that it will be hard to keep him at the club unless they can keep signing quality like Richarlison.

However, the Brazilian doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to make a move and has also stated that it was his dream to play in the Premier League and that he wants to make history with the Hornets by scoring a lot goals.

“It is a dream from my childhood, I always wanted to play in the Premier League, which is one of the best leagues in the world. I want to make history in Watford, and score lots of goals.” He told Goal.

The Brazilian forward looks like a player determined to make a mark for himself in the Premier League. Going by the start he has had to his career in England, there is bound to be a lot more interest from the biggest clubs in Europe and Antonio Conte shouldn’t wait too long to make a move for the Brazilian.
