Forget Welbeck – Arsenal must throw everything to complete this £44m deal for Frenchman

Why must Arsenal throw everything to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern

Arsenal‘s glorious realm under Arsene Wenger witnessed an underwhelming conclusion with back to back finishes outside top-4, thus, failing to secure a Champions League berth despite being the regular participants in Europe’s elite tournament.

Unai Emery, Wenger’s successor at Emirates, will be having a monumental task of restoring the lost pride and is already active in the market to regroup the Gunners.

Although there have been five new signings announced at Emirates so far, the former Sevilla and Paris St-Germain boss has not ruled out further inclusions and the reports linking French sensation Kingsley Coman are doing the rounds.

Coman, 22, is one of the brightest prospects in European football and has already represented the giants of Paris St-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich’s stature.

Injuries, however, have interrupted his growth in past two seasons and cost him a place in Les Bleus’ World Cup winning squad but the Wideman has been key for the Bavarians and played his part in their Bundesliga success in recent years.

A fee of around £44m has reportedly been prepared by the North Londoners as they are in search of an outright winger to operate from the flanks.

Arsenal already have enough quality up front with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to lead the line.

But the lack of end product of Danny Welbeck remains a concern and although Wenger’s trick of exploiting the Englishman down the right-wing brought initial success, Welbeck failed to offer consistency in the longer run.

With less than a year left on his contract to run out at the Emirates, the clock is already ticking for the former Manchester United forward who has been linked with Everton.

The Gunners too should offload Welbeck now with no new contract talks planned and must recoup a decent chunk of money that will help them raise funds to bid for Coman. The young French international prefers to operate from the left-wing but also capable of featuring down the opposite flank.

He is dynamic, pacy and dribbles past the defensive lines with great control and composure. His layoffs, mazy runs and cut-ins often create chances inside the box and the player will only improve his game if handed enough senior minutes at the highest level.

A move to the Premier League has to be enticing but the absence of Champions League football will need some additional efforts to convince the youngster to make a switch to North London.

It’s still a pretty premature update, nevertheless, Arsenal must make one desperate attempt to lure the Bayern Munich sensation.
