Forget Sturridge – Here Are 3 Super Cool Replacements Liverpool Should Target

klopp

Liverpool missed a chance to take a huge lead in the points table early this season as they were held to a draw by a disciplined Southampton side at the St Marys this weekend. Even as Liverpool found it hard to break the deadlock, manager Jurgen Klopp decided to give Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool’s most prolific goal scorer and their best finisher, less than 10 minutes to impact the game. The English international is the first choice striker for the Reds in cup competitions but has lost his place in the starting XI in the league which have seen him linked with an exit even in January. Though Sturridge might stay until the end of the season, he might leave the club if he is not getting enough game time at his age and it might be time for the Reds to think about replacements. Sturridge’s biggest problem has been his injuries and here are 3 injury-free players who Liverpool can replace the English striker with:

Moussa Dembele (Celtic):

The first choice striker for former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, Dembele is one of the most impressive options for Klopp to replace Sturridge. With 14 goals in all competitions this season, the 20-year old is in sizzling form and will be a superb option for Liverpool. His dribbling and finishing abilities can replace Daniel Sturridge at the club in the long term and at his age, he will only benefit from the coaching methods that Klopp uses. Firmino will remain Liverpool’s first choice striker for a few years while Origi will compete for a first change place but Dembele has the ability to walk into the squad on his form and ability with the ball can turn out to be a decent replacement for the Liverpool man.

Andrea Belotti (Torino):

The Italian striker is an expensive option for Liverpool but is one that can take the club to a whole new level. At 22, he is currently the first choice attacker for the Italian outfit Torino this season and has been in outstanding form scoring 11 goals in 14 appearances for club and country this season. He is an excellent finisher who knows his way to goal while he is also excellent defensively, strangely for a striker. He can lead the attack of a Premier League side, having enough strength and ability in the air while his strength and commitment make him a super fit for Liverpool. Klopp has already got an eye on his man for a move in the next few transfer windows and if Liverpool do end up losing their striker, Belotti can more than fill the spot in the squad not just for a season, but also in the long term.

Sardar Azmoun (FC Rostov):

Though not the most exciting option in front of goal for Liverpool, Azmoun is reportedly a Klopp favourite. Known for his dribbling and finishing abilities, the pacey striker is a perfect fit for Klopp’s style of play at Liverpool and at his age, he will only grow into a better player than he already is. He has 7 goals and 2 assists in 19 games in all competitions this season and is in decent form. Klopp is reportedly ready to make a move for him in January and if Sturridge does leave the club at the end of the season, Azmoun should be ready to take over his place come the start of the next season. He is a cheap option who can potentially turn into a top class player and with a manager like Klopp who believes in his ability, he may do more than just replace the Englishman at Anfield.

Do you think Sturridge can be replaced at Anfield? If yes, who do you think should replace him?
