Forget Sessegnon – 3 Top-class wonder kids Tottenham could target including £20m-rated Celtic star

Share

According to reports, Fulham owner Shahid Khan has claimed wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon will stay at the club next season in the Premier League.

Sessegnon, 18, is one of England’s hottest prospects at the moment due to his breathtaking performances in the Championship. The left-wing-back scored 16 goals and supplied a further 8 assists this season, helping Fulham achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old ever since he burst on to the scene at Craven Cottage. They would have hoped to land Sessegnon in the summer but Fulham’s promotion to the top-flight may scupper Tottenham’s hopes.

Also, going by Fulham owner Shahid Khan’s words, Pochettino and co. must forget signing the 18-year-old, at least for another year.

Hence, here are 3 alternatives who Tottenham can target.

Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund)

Tottenham should consider switching their attention from Fulham’s Sessegnon to Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic.

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic has established himself as one of the gifted young attackers in world football. The USA international can play on either the left or the right-hand side or as a central attacking midfielder. His versatility would be a huge bonus for Mauricio Pochettino as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

Fast, dynamic and industrious, Pulisic would be a fantastic addition for Spurs but they will have to fork out a lot of money to bag his signature.

Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax)

One of the sought-after young talents, Matthijs de Ligt is making waves with Ajax. Having come through the ranks of the fabled Ajax academy, De Ligt’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Tottenham one of the clubs interested in signing him in the summer.

Matthijs De Ligt

The Dutchman is a supremely talented defender and rose to prominence during Ajax’s run to the Europa League final season. Although Ajax lost the final to Manchester United, De Ligt largely impressed and since then, his stock has soared.

Strong in the air and comfortable with the ball at his feet, De Ligt is destined for bigger and better things.

Kieran Tierney (Celtic)

Despite being just 20, Kieran Tierney is becoming one of the most talked about young talents in the footballing world.

Kieran Tierney

Celtic’s left-back Tierney has blossomed from a talented prospect into a fantastic player. He played a pivotal role as Celtic secured the domestic treble this season.

The £20m-rated has earned a lot of plaudits for his breathtaking attacking displays at left-back. Being an adventurous full-back, Tierney is also defensively solid, which makes him an exciting prospect for Tottenham to consider this summer.
