Three Alternatives For Radja Nainggolan Who Chelsea Can Target

Radja Nainggolan has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but despite all the effort from Chelsea and Antonio Conte to sign the midfielder, a deal never conspired. Although the Blues did bring in N’Golo Kante to strengthen the midfield, they did lose an excellent player in the form of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.

The Serbian midfielder has been a big miss for Chelsea this season and the results of his departure have been quite clear. However, there are some midfielders in the current market who can be a good fit in the current Chelsea side.

Let’s take a look at three players who can be suitable alternatives for Radja Nainggolan.

Stefano Sturaro

The 24-year-old Juventus midfielder got some real attention from big European players after making it to the Italian national side. Sturaro has also been labelled as one of Antonio Conte’s favourite young players in the current market.

The Italian midfielder has also been linked with a move to Everton with the Toffees looking to sign a midfielder in the upcoming January transfer window. But Goodison Park is an unlikely destination for the Italian, especially given the state that they are in and the lack of European football.

Sturaro is a good reader of the game and offers plenty of pace and character. He could be an ideal player for Antonio Conte.

Victor Wanyama

The 26-year-old Kenyan international midfielder has not been available to play for Spurs since August, having suffered a knee injury after making only 2 appearances so far this season.

However, Spurs have not really missed Wanyama much this season, thanks to Harry Winks and Eric Dier. Especially Winks has managed to make an impression in the absence of the Kenyan, even managing to get into the England national team during the international break.

With Mousa Dembele also available, Victor Wanyama looks like an excess quantity for Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea could really use the services of the 26-year-old as he offers something similar to what Nemanja Matic did before he joined Manchester United, making him an excellent option for the Blues.

Julian Weigl

The Dortmund youngster is another excellent option for Chelsea in the midfield. The 21-year-old has heavily featured in the Dortmund’s first-team despite being one of the youngest players in the squad. Weigl offers immaculate vision and excellent passing range, helping him dictate the tempo of the game in the midfield. He is very efficient at his job and resembles Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets in terms of playing style.

Although he did sign a new contract with Dortmund until 2021, Chelsea can certainly afford to shell any amount of money on this youngster.
